MA-TA Admission Procedure

The MA in Tourism Administration (MA-TA) program equips students with skills of a Business School Graduate and additional skills relevant to the travel, tourism and hospitality industry.

The program was started in 1991 with an intention of training people who would be best suited to take up the Administrative and Managerial challenges of the Tourism, Travel and Hospitality industry. The MA-TA course is a two-year full time – four semester program affiliated to Utkal University, the oldest state university of Odisha.

The program covers the general management and industry driven curriculum and equips students with the analytical, strategic and policy-making skills required for sustainable tourism management within both commercial business enterprises and the public sector tourism industry.


The RCM pedagogy comprises interactive class room sessions with active students’ participation through case presentations, quizzes and exposure to real life situations through frequent seminars and workshops conducted by executives invited from travel and tourism industry. The course and teaching pedagogy are carefully geared up to suit to a highly competitive and fast changing tourism environment.


Students are placed in different organizations for a period of four months during their project work in the 4th semester. It provides them with ample opportunity for practical application of the theoretical knowledge gained through class room teaching and helps in shaping their career.

Program Features:

Training in Computerized Reservation System (CRS), Business Communication & Personality Development Lab, Foreign Language Learning, etc. have added value to this course.


RCM has a distinct placement cell for summer internship / final placement of tourism students. The institute has planned for a special placement drive to induct the students in the airlines, airports, logistics companies and reputed tour operators across the country. Alumni of the college are well-placed in airlines, travel agencies, star hotels, tourism offices and travel desks of reputed corporate organizations.


RCM is enlisted as a member of PATA, TAAI, IATO, ACBSP, AIMS and AMDISA. Membership of these international and national organizations / associations contributes immensely to student’s learning, exposure and final placement of students bringing them closer to the recruiters in different forums.

Semester-I (July-November)

Foundation of Tourism, Management of Travel Industry, Principles & Practices of Management, Hotel Management, Tourism Marketing and Foreign Language Course.

Semester-II (December-April)

Computer & MIS, International Tourism, Tourist Products of India, Business Communication, Organization Behavior & HRM and Odisha Tourism.

Semester-III (July-November)

Principles of Accounting

Specialization Papers

Tourism Marketing:

Consumer Behavior & Marketing Research for Travel & Tourism, Tourism Promotion & Public Relations and International Tourism Marketing.

Travel Trade:

Travel Agency & Tour Operations, World Travel Geography and Basic Air Fares & Ticketing.

Hospitality Management:

Front Office Management, Accommodation Operations Management and Food & Beverage Services.

Air Cargo Operations & Management:

General Introduction to Cargo Industry, Air Cargo Management and Dangerous Goods Regulations & Live Animals Regulations.

Semester-IV (December-April):

Project Report and Viva Voce


Eligibility Criteria:

Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. Admission to the MA-TA program is strictly based on merit of the candidates as judged by their academic records and performance in the interview.

Application Procedure:

Applications are invited from eligible candidates in the prescribed form for admission. Prescribed application forms and prospectus are available in the department office on payment of Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred) in cash or in shape of demand draft favoring “Regional College of Management”, payable in Bhubaneswar.

Documents Required:

Attested photocopies of HSC, Plus Two, Plus Three certificates and mark sheets, two passport size colored photographs are to be submitted along with the application form.

Original HSC, Plus Two, Plus Three certificates and mark sheets along with CLC and conduct certificate and migration certificate (in case of change of university) & two stamp size colored photographs are to be submitted during the time of admission. All original certificates and mark sheets except the CLC, conduct certificate and migration certificate will be returned after verification.

Hostel Fee:

Rs. 18,000/- (Rupees Eighteen Thousand) per year towards room charges only, to be paid at the time of admission in shape of separate demand draft drawn in favor of “Regional College of Management”, payable in Bhubaneswar.
