RCM is a Ragging Free Campus


Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited and any student found involved in ragging will be subject to disciplinary action which may lead to expulsion from the institute.


What is ragging?


A more comprehensive meaning of ragging as given by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India is as follows:


“Ragging is any disorderly conduct, wheather by words spoken or written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any student, indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities which cause or are likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear of apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student and which has the effect of causing of generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the psyche of a fresher or a junior student.”


Punishment for Ragging


A student found guilty of ragging is punishable in the manner prescribed herein under depending on the facts of each incident of ragging and nature and gravity of the guilt established in the recommendations of the Anti-Ragging Squad Of the institute.


  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges
  • Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process
  • Withholding results
  • Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
  • Suspension / expulsion from the hostel
  • Cancellation of admission
  • Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to four semesters
  • Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period, provided that where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.

Besides, Ragging may attract criminal prosecution by local police/ administration. All students admitted to the institute and their parents/guardians are required to sign an undertaking/affidavit that their ward will desist from indulging ragging.
